World Mangrove Day 2024 "Preserve Mangrove Keep Our Planet Alive"
TRM Hospitality Celebrates World Mangrove Day with a Strong Commitment to Conservation in Bali. On Friday, July 26, 2024, Tjendana Resort Management (TRM) Hospitality marked World Mangrove Day with an impactful initiative to conserve mangrove forests in Bali. Collaborating with partners and stakeholders, TRM spearheaded the planting of 100 mangrove seedlings in the mangrove forest area of Jungut Batu Village, Nusa Lembongan.
Under the theme "Preserve Mangroves, Keep Our Planet Alive," the event brought together at least 80 participants from various backgrounds, including TRM Hospitality collaborative partners, village authorities, environmental activists, media representatives, and residents of Nusa Lembongan.
A Commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
Wayan Mangsur, Resort Manager of Tjendana Resort Nusa Lembongan, emphasized that the initiative reflects TRM Hospitality's strong corporate social responsibility (CSR) values.
"The planting of 100 mangrove seedlings is a tangible CSR effort by TRM Hospitality in partnership with sponsor organizations to create sustainable products for a better nature. This activity embodies the Tri Hita Karana philosophy by nurturing Bali's environment and fostering harmony with the surroundings," stated Wayan Mangsur.
The mangrove seedlings planted included species such as Tanjang and Likur . The planting process was carefully managed, with seedlings placed in pre-prepared holes 10-15 cm deep by the Surya Mandiri Mangrove Preservation Group of Jungut Batu Village.
Mangrove Forests: A Vital Tourism and Conservation Asset
The mangrove conservation area in Jungut Batu Village, Nusa Penida, spans approximately 55 hectares and has become a prominent eco-tourism destination. Visitors can enjoy activities such as kayaking and mangrove tours while appreciating the area's natural beauty. TRM Hospitality remains steadfast in its mission to protect and nurture this vital ecosystem to ensure it thrives and benefits the environment and the local community.
"Through this initiative, TRM Hospitality actively reminds us of the importance of preserving ecosystems, including the mangrove forest in Jungut Batu Village, Nusa Lembongan. This event reflects our contribution and responsibility toward nature and the surrounding community. We aim to make this an annual tradition as part of our ongoing commitment," explained Dilla, PR & Marketing Manager of TRM Hospitality.
Established by UNESCO in 2015, World Mangrove Day highlights the critical importance of mangrove ecosystems and encourages global efforts to conserve and restore them. Mangrove forests play a unique role as they thrive in saline environments and act as natural buffers against storm surges, coastal erosion, and rising sea levels.
TRM Hospitality's proactive approach to mangrove conservation extends beyond planting trees. The initiative fosters environmental awareness among participants and strengthens collaboration between stakeholders, local communities, and eco-tourism enthusiasts. The program also highlights TRM Hospitality's commitment to sustainable tourism by aligning environmental conservation efforts with community welfare.
TRM Hospitality showcases its dedication to preserving Bali's natural heritage while promoting responsible tourism by integrating sustainability into its operations and engaging in impactful activities such as mangrove planting. This effort protects vital ecosystems and supports local residents' livelihoods, creating a win-win scenario for people and the planet.
TRM Hospitality's ongoing initiatives, such as this mangrove planting program, reaffirm the company’s position as a leader in sustainable tourism and environmental stewardship in Bali. By ensuring the health of mangrove forests, TRM Hospitality contributes to the global effort to combat climate change and protect coastal ecosystems for generations.
